UPDATE A YEAR LATER

Had this for 11 months and it’s now not working properly. Have to have it at 10/10 for it do anything noticeable, heats up in patches, a couple of very hot patches that are clearly working at full capacity but mostly a lot less hot than when I first got it. I’m just about warm enough with this half heated setup but if it deteriorates anymore I’ll have to buy a new one. Would not try this brand again.

ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW

At first I thought this wasn't hot enough as it doesn't FEEL that hot when it's on, but when you actually lie under it it gets warm very fast. I wanted to have it under my duvet and directly on top of me for the warmth but you can really feel the wires that run through it, and I figured I would have to wash it much more often. So I now have it on top of my duvet and actually have another very thin blanket on top of it so the heat doesn't just escape upwards straight away. Works very well but does mean i'm now under 3 layers!

In this setup I have the heat between 2 and 5/10 and it's pretty perfect. Could probably have it on a higher setting and not use the extra blanket on top.

Wouldn't want to use it to get cosy on a sofa or anything due to the feel of the wires though.

Unfortunately i've never used any other heated blanket so I have nothing to compare against and I don't know if feeling the wires like that is just a given or if it's an issue with this product.

Overall it works well and was a much better price than bigger brands I would have normally gone for - as long as you have it on top of your duvet I would buy this again.

Worth knowing that as far as I can tell you HAVE to set an auto-off timer, though that is largely sensible for fire prevention. This can be between 1 and 10 hours.

Honestly, it's just not all that warm, at least to me. The blanket itself is very thin and the instructions say not to fold it over but that's the only way I can get any appreciable warmth from it. This makes it a heated blanket for one person only. Unfortunately it also says not to sit/lie on it or it may turn off due to overheating so it cannot be completely wrapped around a person.

The controls are physically easy enough to use, though I'm not sure if someone with cognitive difficulties would remember how to use the timer, or even that they have to manually increase the temperature every time it's turned on. All in all, I feel this is not great value for the price, and I made sure to get it on sale at that. It's not awful, but it's not significantly better than a nice fleece blanket either so I would mainly recommend it to people who have issues maintaining body temperature.
