Once the national restrictions come to an end on December 2nd, they will be replaced with regional restrictions tiered system, designed to target areas where infection rates are highest.
The government is hoping that the right levels of restrictions in key regions will manage outbreaks, suppress the virus and keep R below 1. Anything over 1 and it means the virus is spreading out of control.
The Three Tiers of Local Restrictions.
- Tier 1: Medium alert
- Tier 2: High alert
- Tier 3: Very High alert
Thursday 26 November is the day the government will announce which areas are in which tier and you will be able to use a postcode checker to find out the restrictions in your area or an area you plan to visit. The NHS COVID-19 app will also be updated to reflect the changes.
The guidelines are quite lengthy and could be subject to change so make sure you bookmark the Gov website and have a read if you're unsure about what the restrictions in your area are.
