Now owned by Diageo, Johnnie Walker originated in the Scottish burgh of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire, first established by grocer John Walker. Today, the brand is the most widely distributed blended Scotch whisky in the world, and can be is sold in almost every country around the world.
In 2016, the brand sells more than 223.7 million 700ml bottles - That's an incredible eye-watering 156.6 million litres of liquid gold.
Brief History
In 1860 The Spirits Act legalised the blending of grain whiskies with malt whiskies. This ushered in the modern era of blended Scotch whisky and this was the catalyst for the brand to take off.
After John Walker died in 1857, his son Alexander, also known as Alec Walker and grandson Alexander Walker II took advantage of the new legislation to establish the blended brand of whisky as a popular choice, thanks to it's lighter and sweeter character than grain or malt whiskies.
There is a Johnnie Walker whisky for every whisky lover. The cheapest and most accessible being Red Label, starting at just over £18 a bottle, all the way to the Blue Label, starting at around £120 per bottle.

Where is Johnnie Walker Made?
Up until 2021, the brand stayed true to its roots and bottled its liquid gold in its home town of Kilmarnock. However, since then, production switched to Diageo's bottling facilities at Leven in Fife and Shieldhall in Glasgow.
Everytime a sip of this stuff passes through your lips, you know it's been made right here in the UK and matured for at least three years in oak casks. Around 40%-70% of the flavour comes from the maturation process and barrel.
