Everyone loves to show a bit of skin in the summer, not least to soak up some vitamin D. Here are some simple and easy summer skin care tips for you to keep your skin beautiful and protected in the warmer months of the year.
Soon enough we will be out of these dark winter months and into the warmer summer days. And you know what must transition into the warmer weather just like your wardrobe does? Your skincare!
Tip 1: Lighter products
Just like your clothing choices change when the warmer months start, so should your skincare routine. Go for a lighter skincare routine once the warmer months start to approach.
Due to the heat and humidity that summer brings, you will not need a heavy cream or oil cleanser. Instead, go for a gentler option, like a foaming cleanser.
If you experience more sweat on your face, splashing some water throughout the day might help cleanse it without damaging your skin.
One step in your skincare routine that is recommended to go a bit heavier on during the warmer months is exfoliation.
Exfoliating your skin removes the surface layer of dead skin cells. Because the summer heat and the sun can be very damaging to the skin, exfoliating helps your skin remain healthy and strong. Furthermore, exfoliation helps open up pores and make your skincare products work better.

Tip 2: Stay protected
The most important part of your skincare is SPF! Everyone wants to leave the dreary and cold days of winter behind and enjoy themselves in the sun, whether that is enjoying brunch with the girls or just sunbathing in the park.
However, too much sun can be very bad for your skin and health. Over-exposure to sun rays can lead to premature skin ageing, darkening of pigmentation, and even hyperpigmentation.
Many products now have added SPF in them so make these your first choice and a staple on your skincare shopping list.
Moisturisers with SPF in them are a good combination because it allows you to stay hydrated and protected from the sun. Do not forget to use SPF of at least 30 to stay protect and reapply if you are going to stay in the sun for a long period of time.
Another important area to protect is your lips. Plus, make sure you always use a lip balm with SPF to keep your lips nourished and protected at the same time.
Tip 3: Vitamin C
Another product that will be your best friend in the summer is vitamin C, because it reduces oxidation of pigment on your skin, preventing it from getting darker with sun exposure, and helps lighten any pigmentation on your skin the longer you use it.
Vitamin C also helps boost your sunscreen's effectiveness, since it helps fight the darkening of pigments on your skin. It provides an excellent layer of protection and helps your skin fight UV rays in tandem with your sunscreen.
Tip 4 : Stay Hydrated & Stay in The Shade
With the hotter summer days, it is important to stay hydrated. They say you should drink at least eight glasses of water a day to stay properly hydrated, and it also helps you flush out any toxins on your skin, leaving you with a beautiful glow. Don't leave your skin begging for moisture!
Vitamin C is also great for helping to reduce oil production, that's because, for some people, dehydration is the reason why their body produces more oil. Water even helps your skin recover from sunburns.
Now, in order to not have to deal with sunburns, staying in the shade is always a good choice. Hats and sunglasses will help protect your skin from harmful sun rays that can lead to premature wrinkles while expressing your sense of style.
Whenever possible, try to stay in the shade when in direct sunlight so you don't over-expose your skin to the sun. If you do not like wearing hats, look into purchasing a scalp sunscreen to keep your scalp protected.
The most harmful sunrays are between 10 am and 3 pm, so make use of whatever shade you can during those hours if you're out and about.
Don't worry, you can get more than enough sun outside of the hottest hours of the day.
Now you know how to get beautiful skin on the hot summer days and get out of the funk of our dreaded winter. Just remember, enjoying yourself in exquisite weather does not mean you have to deal with premature ageing, or sunburns.
Protect yourself, stay hydrated, and keep up your summer skincare routine. Soon enough you will be glowing at the beach.
