10 of our Favourite James Bond Films
We all love watching old James Bond movies at Christmas it can be hard to decide which one you're in the mood to watch. Here are some fun facts to help you decide and maybe impress your family and friends with next time you are watching one of these classic movies.
Casino Royale 2006
This presented a new take on James Bond as a younger, more inexperienced agent, and had a serious/realistic story to it, unlike previous Bond films before it. The epic parkour scene took 6 weeks to shoot and stars the famous pioneer of free running, Sebastien Foucan. Daniel Craig was the first actor to be nominated for a BAFTA award for his portrayal as James Bond.
Goldeneye
First James Bond movie made that is not an Ian Flemming novel. It was Pierce Bronson's debut film as James Bond. The main villain is also a double O agent like James Bond himself which leads to a compelling and evenly matched conflict between Bond and our main antagonist.
This is the highest-grossing James Bond film at the box office worldwide. A lot of main characters from the original James Bond films get reintroduced to the series, like Q, the new gadget master, and a new Moneypenny. The villain Silva is one of the best in the series and presents a character that is multi-faceted showing an emotional side not before presented. It also explores the bond the OOs have with M and the toll being a spy has on them.
Licence to Kill
Unlike previous James Bond films before it, Licence to Kill, starring the rugged Timothy Dalton as Bond, is more of a revenge film and James Bond is not working for MI6 in this one. The film is set in Mexico. This Bond movie is far grittier and more serious, moving away from the tongue-in-cheek movies starring Roger Moore to more of an action movie. The theme song was sung by Gladys Knight.

The Man with the Golden Gun
Stars the late and legendary English actor Christopher Lee. The film is shot in Thailand, the main villain Scaramanga’s beach house is now known as James Bond Island in Thailand, which has become a popular tourist attraction.
Goldfinger
Bond girl Pussy Galore, Honor Blackman, steals the show with her seductive voice and good looks. Unique bond villain henchmen Oddjob has some memorable moments with his hat that doubles as a weapon. The movie was the fastest grossing movie in movie history during the time it was released. It is in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Moonraker
The final scene is set in Space. James Bond only fires a gun once in the movie. The title sequence cost more than the entire budget of Dr. No.
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Spy Who Loved Me is the ninth novel by Ian Flemming and the memorable Richard Kiel makes his debut as iconic sidekick Jaws. After the release of the film, the demand for the White Lotus Esprit cars skyrocketed, and some people were on the mailing list for 3 years.
Thunderball
The budget of this movie was more than the previous three films Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger combined. It was the first time a Bond movie was released in America before the UK. The character, to match her nickname, Domino only wore Black and White clothing.
Tomorrow Never Dies
The total of fifteen BMW 750s models were destroyed during filming. The main villain Elliot Carver is another unique bond villain, unlike others who are terrorists, he is a media mogul who wants to start a war to get media coverage.
